Media Asia Call for Papers

Mobile Telephony and Mobile Communication in Asia

Guest Editor: Ran Wei, Ph.D., University of South Carolina

Asia is the largest market of wireless telecommunications. A large number of Asian countries are leaders in the adoption of 3G mobile technologies and innovative mobile applications. Media Asia is pleased to announce a paper call for a special issue in 2009 to explore new developments, core issues, and the social impact of mobile telephony in Asian countries.

The special issue calls for papers on topics related to the social, political, psychological and marketing issues concerning 3G mobile technologies and user responses to a wide array of mobile data services. Papers examining the mobile phone as the third screen, SMS text messaging, wireless Internet, and the i-phone phenomenon are particularly welcome. Comparative studies between Asian and Western countries or between and among Asian countries are also desirable.
